In rare feat, two WNY doctors now sit on AMA Board of Trustees

The AMA Board of Trustees is composed of 19 doctors, a medical student and a public representative, which this year is Harris Pastides, an epidemiologist and former president of the University of South Carolina.

Two board representatives each work in Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, South Carolina, Texas and New York. Others practice in Arkansas, California, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.

Four doctors on the board specialize in internal medicine, including Madejski. Two otolaryngologists and two ophthalmologists serve, as do an allergist, psychiatrist, facial plastic surgeon, family health provider, OB/GYN, cardiologist, dermatologist, anesthesiologist, urologist, radiologist and orthopedic surgeon.

Madejski – who grew up on the West Side of Buffalo in a family filled with pharmacists – has served in various positions during the last two decades with the Medical Society of the State of New York, including as president in 2018.

He is among four AMA board members elected June 7 from a field of eight candidates during an annual meeting of the AMA Board of Delegates that was conducted online.

Madejski graduated from the UB School of Pharmacy and SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. He’s leads a primary care practice with offices in Albion and Medina that for the last several years has been managed by General Physician PC, a Kaleida Health affiliate. His subspecialties include geriatric and palliative care.
